MATT HANCHANA QUOTED IN TIRE REVIEW MAGAZINE
Matt Hanchana, sales technical service manager for GITI Tire (USA) Ltd., has the lead-off quote in a Tire Review magazine story on drive tires.
Matt explains in the article, “The drive tire’s purpose is to transmit force, transforming torque into tractive force from the tires to the road. Lug or block designs help drive tires maximize traction levels on different types of surfaces.”
Later in the article, Matt provides advice to tire dealers on what questions to ask their fleet manager and owner operator customers regarding drive tires:
- Where do the trucks go and what will the routes be like?
- Will the vehicle be used on-road, off-road, or both?
- What are they hauling?
- How many miles are they averaging per month?
- Are you looking for fuel efficiency?
- Are you looking for high mileage?
GITI Tire markets and sells a full line of GT Radial medium truck tires in North America, including the new SmartWay®-verified GT Radial GDL651FS drive tire which provides enhanced fuel economy, combined with good traction and long tread wear.
The GDL651FS, with a tread depth of 26/32”, is currently available in the 295/75R22.5 size; the product line will be expanded to all low pro and tall sizes in 2017.
“This new generation drive tire was designed specifically for the North American market in a collaborative effort by our technical center in Ohio and corporate R&D center,” Hanchana says.
The GDL651FS joins three other GT Radial SmartWay verified products for line haul operations: GSL213FS steer tire, GDL617FS drive tire, and GT979FS trailer tire. While the GDL617FS is an open shoulder tire with a 22/32” tread depth, the new GDL651FS is a closed shoulder drive tire with the deeper tread depth of 26/32” which contributes to longer tread life.
