Bakchis Wins Formula DRIFT Competition in Utah on GT Radial Tires

The Lithuanian driver remains in contention for the season title

GRANTSVILLE, UT (Sept. 3, 2024) – Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis claimed first place in Round 7 of Formula DRIFT competition here on Aug. 31. In doing so, he remained in competition for the 2024 FD PRO Championship title and kept GT Radial alive to claim its second consecutive Tire Cup title.

Points leader James Deane (Ireland) just needed to match Bakchis in points to win the 2024 FD PRO Championship title in Utah. However, Bakchis was able to defeat Deane in the Top 4 heats and win Round 7. The PRO title will now be decided at the Final Round at Irwindale Speedway on October 18-19.

With the outstanding performance in his Feal Suspension/GT Radial Nissan S15, Bakchis set up a monumental final round to decide the driver championship and tire cup.

Finishing 10th in Utah, 14-year-old Hiroya Minowa (Japan) continues to lead the 2024 FD Rookie of the Year race on GT Radial tires. His Enjuku Racing / Cusco / Yellowspeed Racing Toyota GT86 currently sits fourth overall with 406 points, 96 points ahead of nearest rival Conor Shanahan (Ireland) in 11th.

GT Radial is defending its 2023 Formula DRIFT Tire Cup. Teams on Champiro SX2 RS tires, which are manufactured at the Giti Tire plant in Richburg, SC, scored the most points over the eight races in the 2023 season, enabling GT Radial to best four other tire brands to claim the Tire Cup.
